...EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM PDT /10 PM
MST/ TUESDAY...
* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions for early June. High
temperatures 105 to 110 in Las Vegas, Pahrump, and Barstow, 110 to
115 in Mesquite and near Lake Mead, and approaching 120 at Furnace
Creek in Death Valley National Park.
* WHERE...Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Death Valley National
Park, Western Mojave Desert, Northeast Clark County, Western Clark
and Southern Nye County, and Las Vegas Valley.
* WHEN...Until 10 PM PDT /10 PM MST/ Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Heat-related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat events.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and
loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early
morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat
exhaustion and heat stroke.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

...OZONE HIGH POLLUTION ADVISORY FOR MARICOPA COUNTY INCLUDING THE
PHOENIX METRO AREA TUESDAY...
The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) has issued an
Ozone High Pollution Advisory for the Phoenix Metro Area on Tuesday.
This means that forecast weather conditions combined with existing
ozone levels are expected to result in local maximum 8-hour ozone
concentrations that pose a health risk. Adverse health effects
increase as air quality deteriorates.
Ozone is an air contaminant which can cause breathing difficulties
for children, older adults, as well as persons with respiratory
problems. A decrease in physical activity is recommended.
You are urged to car pool, telecommute or use mass transit.
The use of gasoline-powered equipment should be reduced or done late
in the day.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northwest Colorado, southwest
Colorado, west central Colorado, east central Utah, northeast Utah
and southeast Utah.
.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and
continue this evening mainly across the mountains south of I-70 with
best potential across the southern mountains. Dry conditions will
continue for most lower valleys with warm, above normal temperatures.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.
Dry and warm conditions continue through the coming week with
afternoon storms possible each day through mid week, favoring the
higher terrain. Hot, dry and windy conditions arrive late this week
into the weekend, with potential for critical fire weather conditions
returning.
